Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using PetSage ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and PetSage.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use PetSage (or the minimum age required in your country if higher). By using the Service, you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should use the Service with parental awareness.

3. Account registration

• You must provide a username and valid email address. A username is required — not your real name.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You must verify your email address before accessing the Service.
• Accounts are personal and non-transferable.
• You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or to abuse the Service.

4. Nature of the Service

PetSage uses artificial intelligence (GPT-4o-mini by OpenAI) to provide general care, nutrition, and behavioural guidance for pets. The Service:

• Provides general information for educational and guidance purposes only
• Is NOT a substitute for professional veterinary care
• Does NOT diagnose illness, disease, or medical conditions
• Does NOT recommend medications, dosages, or medical treatments
• May occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information

You agree that you will not rely on PetSage as a source of veterinary or medical advice, and that you will consult a licensed veterinarian for any health-related concerns.

5. Subscriptions and payments

5.1 Subscription plans

PetSage offers auto-renewing subscription plans (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual, Annual). Subscriptions begin immediately upon payment and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.

5.2 One-time access passes

One-time passes (7-day, 14-day, 30-day, 90-day, 180-day, 365-day) grant access for the stated period only. They do not renew automatically. Access expires at the end of the stated period.

5.3 Pricing

Prices are displayed in GBP (£) or EUR (€) depending on your location. All prices include applicable VAT where required. PetSage reserves the right to change prices with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

5.4 Payment processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. PetSage does not store card details. By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.

6. Cancellation and refunds

See our full Refund Policy for complete details. In summary:

• You may cancel a subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Under UK and EU consumer law, you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription and receive a full refund, provided the service has not been substantially used.
• One-time passes are non-refundable once used, subject to statutory rights.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute any part of the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or system components
• Input harmful, abusive, or illegal content into the chat
• Use the Service to generate content for commercial resale without authorisation
• Create accounts using automated means (bots)
• Use the Service in a way that could harm, overload, or disrupt it

8. Intellectual property

PetSage and its content (logo, design, code, text) are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

AI-generated responses are provided for your personal use only. You retain ownership of content you submit (pet profiles, messages).

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without any warranty, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI responses will always be accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PetSage shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including reliance on AI-generated advice. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other matter that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time from your settings. On termination, your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be resolved by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
